 Our Beliefs
We believe in God as creator of all the world.
We believe Jesus Christ, God's only Son, is Savior and Lord and that through the God's gracious gift of Jesus Christ, God offers each person a unique relationship. Our response to God's gift involves both faith and action.
We acknowledge the Bible as God's revelation of himself to men and women together with his offer of salvation. The Bible is also a source of nourishemnt to Christians, and an authority and guidance for life.
The sacrements of baptisim and Holy Communion also express the good news of Jesus Christ. The church baptises those who confess the Christian faith, and for those whom the church takes responsibility to care and instruct. Baptism is an effective sign of a relationship with Jesus and with the church. In the sacrement of Holy Communion we communion with Jesus Christ, commemorate his death and resurrection and receive strength to participate in Christ's mission.
In the interpretation of Scripture, we accept the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds. Our church stands firmly with the church thoughout the ages and with the churches of the Reformation in its essential belief and teachings.
Our Basis of Union provides an 18 paragraph statement of the Uniting Church's purpose, faith and order.

 Who is this Jesus ?

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant
woman. He worked in a carpentry shop until he was thirty,
and then for three years he was an itinerant preacher.

When the tide of popular opinion turned against him, his
friends ran away. He was turned over to his enemies.
He was tried and convicted. He was nailed upon a cross
between two thieves. When he was dead, he was laid in a
borrowed grave.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never
owned a home. He never went to college. He never travelled
more than two hundred miles from the place where he was born.
He never did one of the things that usually accompanies
greatness.

Yet all the armies that ever marched, and all the governments
that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, have not
affected life upon this earth as powerfully as has that One
Solitary Life.

How Can You Know Jesus ?
Recognize you are a sinner in the eyes of God.
All men and women since Adam and Eve are sinners and so cannot be joined with a pure and holy God - the Bible says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 and "For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23.
Repent and be willing to turn from your sin toward God.
The Bible says "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God" Ephesians 2:8.
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross.
Paul wrote in Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Receive, through prayer, Jesus Christ into your heart and life.

What does "John 3:16" mean ?
This sign can often be seen at many outdoor sporting events that are screened on TV.
But what does it mean ?
It refers to a verse in the Bible, the 16th verse of chapter 3 of John's Gospel.
This verse reads:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
This tells us that God's Son, Jesus, was sent to us in love from our heavenly Father so that anyone who truly believes in Jesus (as the Son of God and as your Saviour) will live with God forever in heaven after their death on earth.

  About the Uniting Church Emblem
UCA Emblem The emblem of the Uniting Church in Australia shows the cross of Jesus Christ, in its light and love, standing over a darkened world - redeeming it through grace and truth. By that cross people are bound to Christ and each other.

The Holy Spirit, symbolised by the dove with the wings of flame, empowers and guides us to be witnesses to Jesus Christ.

The wide U at the bottom points to the fact that we are uniting; as a semicircle it also reminds us that the renewing of both church and world are as yet incomplete. The emblem symbolises something of the vision we have glimpsed and the hopes we hold for the future.
In particular it reminds us:

- that the gospel message is central in all that we seek to do;
- of the need for constant reform and renewal;
- of our commitment to worship, witness and service.
